Recreational

This is a great starting place for the beginner gymnast aged 5yrs & up. Recreational gymnastics is divided into Junior and Senior Programs so that children are working at a challenging level in a program that best suits their age and ability level.

Motivation and a sense of achievement are important in all sports, and our recreational gymnastics programs (both Junior and Senior) are based around our “Stages” system. Children will progress through the recreational program and each time a “benchmark” or skills “milestone” is reached by the gymnast, they will receive a certificate and progress to the next stage to work on more challenging skills.

Once a child passes stage 4, they are eligible to move to a 2 hour competitive Squad, held Monday through Thursday from 4pm – 6pm.

The levels are:

• Stage 1 – Squirrel Squad
• Stage 2 – Gleaming Gliders
• Stage 3 – Mischievous Meerkats
• Stage 4 – Leaping Lemurs

However, you or your child may wish to stay within our recreational program and move into one of our senior recreational classes and continue on the Stages system. From Stage 7, your child may be offered a spot in a more advanced competitive squad on Tuesday and/or Thursday afternoons from 4:45pm – 7:45pm.

• Stage 5 – Marvelous Monkeys
• Stage 6 – Outstanding Orangutans
• Stage 7 – Groovy Gorillas

These gym classes are lots of fun while improving flexibility, co-ordination, strength & confidence. Children explore the different gymnastics apparatus and equipment including beam, bars, floor, vault, trampolines, rings, P-Bars and foam pit.

In fact, recreational gymnastics has been the starting point for most of our high level and elite competitors over the last 16 years!

Recreational classes cost $20.00 for the hour and fees are paid by the term along with an annual registration fee of $90 for new members. (please see our Policies Section for more information)
