National Clubs Results
A big congratulations to A.J. Lovatt, Emma Taylor, Jasmine Ford & Gabby Hussey on their performances at National Clubs in over the November/ December period.
A.J.'s performance was nothing short of outstanding! The combined individual results over the 2 days of competition had A.J. finish in first place all around due to strong performances and places on every apparatus. A.J finished 1st on High Bar, 2nd on P Bars, Floor & Rings, 3rd on Vault and 6th on Pommel. Congratulations A.J.! The work doesn't stop there with A.J. staying on at the AIS to train as part of the National Squad.
The weekend before, Gabby Hussey finished 25th in Level 6 International with a 10th on Vault! In Level 10 International Jazzy finished 2nd on Vault and 14th on Beam, while Emma finished 12th on beam! Well done Girls. Full results from National clubs are available here.
2008 Christmas Party & Gymnasts Awards Dinner
After the success of last years Awards Presentation Night, we will be following a similar format again this year. It will once again be held at the Diamonds Reception Centre, upstairs at Warilla Bowling Club on Sunday 21st December. The festivities and awards presentations will commence at 5:30pm.
Dress code will be smart casual (eg: collared shorts, trousers etc. No thongs or shorts) The cost of $40 for adults, $23 for children 4 - 12 years (kids under 4 free). This includes a 2 course meal with tea and coffee and a DJ for the children. Drinks are not included but full bar service is available.
Invitations will be given to gymnasts soon, which will contain more details. Tickets are limited to 250 and no more and will go on sale Monday 17th November.
Six of our Junior MAG Gymnasts Trialing for
the 2009 State Development Squad!
Good luck to the following boys who are trialing for a position on the NSW State development squad:
- Phoenix Stamp
- Ryan McAllister
- Ryan Difazio
- Kaydin Harrison
- William Bradley
- Robert Fassone
Overall, 72 boys who will be assessed by the best MAG coaches in the state to get one of 36 positions on the 2009 squad. The squad will participate in regular training camps throughout next year in an attempt to develop the next generation of State and National elite Gymnasts.
Wet'n'Wild Carnival Results
All of the Cheerleaders had a great time again this year on the Gold Coast for the Wet'n'wild cheer event. The Opals finished 3rd in Junior Pom and 2nd in Junior cheer while the Diamonds were 2nd in Senior Pom and 4th in Senior cheer! Great effort by all!
Great Results at Tamworth!
Congratulations to all of the gymnasts who travelled north to Tamworth in the School Holidays for the NSW Country Championships. The club achieved some great reslults in MAG and WAG, with lots of medals. Also, a big thankyou to the Diamonds cheerleaders for their spectacular routine - a real crowd pleaser!

WAG Level 1-3 A/B State Championships results
Well done to Georgia Lee, Emma Lancaster, Ashley Cavanagh, Chelsea Hawkins, Jessica Hinds and Brooke Connolly who represented the South Coast at State Championships on September 20th and 21st. A great effort by all. Full results available here.
Australia's Junior Development Coach visits our Club!
The national development coach was in town on the 15th of September to run our junior and elite gymnasts through their paces. The visit was part of Gymnastics Australia's efforts in collecting data and assessment of elite, and future elite gymnasts who may one day go on to represent Australia!
Eight of our Gymnasts selected for State Squads
Congratulations to our elite girls who have been selected for the NSW Gold, Silver and Bronze Squads.
Australia’s National Women’s coach, and the AIS head coach were at Westfields Sports High School in Sydney recently to assess the next generation of NSW elite gymnasts. Those selected on the squads will attend special clinics held throughout 2008 with Australia’s best coaches in an attempt to increase the talent pool for Australia’s international efforts in years to come. Both Jasmine Ford (8I) and Emma Taylor (8I) have once again been selected for the Gold Squad, while younger team mate Gabby Hussey (6I) has been selected in the Silver Squad. Well done girls! A great opportunity to work hands on with Australia’s National coaching staff!
Bronze squad trials were also held recently and Brooke Connolly was selected for the Senior Bronze Squad, with Kayleigh Falconer, Ashley Cavanagh, Tess Campbell and Grace Gargett all making the Junior Bronze squad. A great effort by our girls who will participate in development training sessions throughout the year with the states best elite coaches and gymnasts!
Tramp Coach Kaleb off to NZ!
Kaleb will head to Rotorua, New Zealand to represent Australia in Double Mini Tramp. The Indo-Pacific Championships will be held in October. Good luck Kaleb!
A.J. on the MAG under 13 National Squad!
Congratulations to AJ Lovatt who has once again on the MAG National Squad. AJ who competes in the elite Level 7 Age (Under 13) joins the squad again for the 3rd consecutive year. Well done AJ, and keep up the good work!
Great performances at Nationals
Carmel & Co Gymnasts Jasmine Ford, AJ Lovatt, Samuel Davies and Ben Alhovirta did our club proud at the 2008 National Championships.
In WAG Level 8 International, Jazzy was outstanding to finish 3rd overall. The only club based gymnast to compete this year in 8 International was an accomplishment in itself. Highlights for Jasmine were 1st on vault and 3rd on floor!
- In MAG Level 7 Age, AJ Lovatt finished 9th overall with a 2nd on vault, 3rd on high bar, 6th on rings and 7th on P-Bars!
- In MAG Level 7 Open, Ben Alhovirta finished 25th overall in a field of 51 competitors including a team from New Zealand. Ben came 10th on P-Bars and 16th on High Bar!
- In MAG Level 6 Age, Samuel Davies finished 13th overall out of 48 Gymnasts with highlights of 8th on floor and 10th on vault!

Carmel & Co recieve Gymnastics Australia 3 Star Accreditation!
Our club was succesful in acheiving Club 10 3 star accreditation at the start of this year. Club 10 is a Gymnastics Australia's Risk Management and Quality Assurance programme. By acheiving 3 Star, we had to demonstrate that we had appropriate policies, procedures, equipment checklists, risk management measurement and assessment tools that ensure we are providing a high quality service and facility. Well done to all staff for their hard work. Next step.............4 Star accreditation!
