FAQS

Are the coaches trained?
All staff are at least level 1 coaches (except trainees who are undertaking supervised training, and completing Gymnastics Australia approved coaching courses) Some staff actually have level 2 and level 3 FIG coaching qualifications. In addition, all staff undergo a working with Children background check before working for us.
Can I stay and watch?
Yes! Parents are allowed to stay and watch all non competitive classes (but please don’t take video or photos). With competitive gymnastics, parents may only view from 6:30pm onwards, and with cheerleading by invitation only. For our Kindy Kids Club program, we encourage parents to drop off and pick up after the class. Our Kindy Coordinators are trained pre-school teachers, and experience tells us children are more focussed and less distracted when parents aren’t there. If you want to see how your child is doing, pop in 15 minutes or so before the end of class.
Can my child try a class first to see if they like it?
Yes! We encourage all new members to come along and pay for a single trial lesson to make sure they enjoy the class before enrolling for the term, and paying fees and registration.
Does my child need a uniform?
No, not for non competitive classes. You may purchase one if you chose, but it’s purely optional. With competitive Gymnasts, a leotard, or cheer outfit, along with club tracksuit and bag are required for competitions. Prices are available from reception.
How much do classes cost?
The cost of each class is outlined here on the website. Term fees are paid in full at the start of each term (eg class fee x number of weeks in the term). Registration for a calendar year is paid at the beginning of the year, or the second visit for new members.
If my child likes their trial class and wants to join up, what do I do?
Nothing after the trial class! We encourage you to go away and have a have a chat with your child. We will save a spot for your child in that class for the following week. When you return, you’ll need to pay for the remainder of term fees (pro-rata) and an annual registration fee. Please note: if you do want to join up, but can’t make the second week, make sure you contact us or your child will lose their spot in that class.
What do I need to bring on my child’s trial lesson?
Please bring a completed enrolment form (or complete the online enrolment form), money for one lesson, a pair of socks and comfortable clothing such as shorts and T-Shirt (not excessively loose or baggy). Please don’t bring your child with clothing with buckles or clips. Also, remove all jewelry (stud earings are acceptable) and tie long hair back.
What should my child wear to gymnastics?
Comfortable clothing that is not too lose and a pair of socks for the trampoline. For example shorts and a T Shirt. Long hair should also be tied back so it doesn’t fall over the face, and all jewellery should be removed (stud earrings are okay, but anything else should be removed).
When do new members pay their fees?
After participating in a trial class, full fees (pro-rata for the remainder of the term) and Registration for the year are due on the second visit. Your child will not be able to participate in the class unless payment is received.

2015 Awards Presentation

On Saturday 12th December we will be holding our Annual Gymnast Awards Presentation at the Shellharbour Club. This is always a great event for the kids, with all gymnasts attending receiving their trophy on the day, as well as a DJ for the after awards party!. It will start at 10:30am and finish at 1:30pm.

Tickets are $16 per person (Under 3 years free) and are on sale from Carmel & Co Administration from Monday 23rd November until Friday 4th December. We can only sell 180 tickets so don't miss out.

Weekend IL Competition Results

Well done to all of the WAG International Level Gymnasts who competed at the Club on Sunday 30th August. We had Gymnasts from Manly Warringah Gymnastics Club, Australian Academy of Gymnastics, Sydney Gymnastics Centre and of course Carmel and Co.

This was the first competition for many of our youngest Gymnasts and they all put in a fantastic effort. Special mention to Indiana who finished 1st in IL4, and Chelsea, Zarah and Georgia who came in 1st, 2nd and 3rd in IL2. Awesome stuff!!

Unfortunately, Emmy Withers will not be able to compete at Nationals due to injury, despite qualifying at bothe State Trials, and State Championships.

WG State Trial 2 Results

State Trial 2 for International Level 7 to Senior Gymnasts was held on Saturday 21st March as SGAC.

In IL Level 7, Ruby Pass & Shiira De Horta performed well. Shiira 2nd on Vault and 3rd on Bars for an 8th All Around. This was Ruby's first competition in over a year, and she performed well for her first Competition in her new Level.

In IL Level 8, Emelia Withers finished 2nd All Around, with 1st on Vault, 2nd on Bars and 3rd on Floor. Emelia will join Miranda Blades in representing NSW at National Championships in Melbourne in May. Miranda Blades finished just behind Emmy with a 3rd All Around. Apparatus highlights for Miranda were 3rd on Beam, and 4th on Vault and floor.

Team Mate Olivia Falconer finished 5th on Floor, for an 8th place All Around.

Emelia Withers, Miranda Blades and Olivia Falconer all competed International Level 8 at State Trial 1, held at Sydney Gymnastics & Aquatic Centre. This was the first chance the girls had to compete their new routines, and the results are encouraging.

Emelia finished 1st All Around with 1st on Floor, 2nd on Vault & Bars, and 3rd on Beam. Miranda came in 2nd All Around, with 2nd on Beam and 3rd on Floor, while Olivia finished 4th All Around, with 1st on Vault & 2nd on Floor.

MAG State Trial 1 Results

Three of our boys, Robert Fassone, Zac Paplauskas and Hayden Michlmayer, competed at the MG Level 7 to 10 State Trials at Sydney Gymnastics & Aquatic Centre on 23rd February.

Some of the highlights include Zac Paplauskas finishing 3rd All Around in Level 7 Open with 4th on Vault & P Bars, along with 5th on Floor and high Bar. Robert Fassone finished 5th All Around in Level 9 Open with 3rd on P Bars and High Bar, and 5th on Pommel and Vault.

Cheer Choreographer visits our Cheer Squads

International Cheer Choreographer Toni Wright visited our club from 20th to 22nd of February to construct Cheer routines for the Dolphins and infinity Cheer squads for the 2015 competitive season.
Toni was also responsible for our 2014 routines, which helped us to outstanding results at the AASCF national Championships on the Gold Coast! Lets hope for a repeat performance!!

Five of our Gymnasts participated in the Gymnastics NSW IDP Bronze Squad on Sunday 16th November.

Koffi Brookfield, Shiira De Horta, Abby Scolameiro, Ruby Pass and Mischa Goedde all had a blast, and picked up some valuable tips from Master coaches Xiaoqing Li, Ming Lu and Kyle Luck.

The girls were exhausted at the end of the day having finished 2 bar sessions, 2 beam sessions, and 2 tumbling sessions!!

National Clubs 2014

Our IDP 5 Gymnasts headed down to Geelong for the 2014 Women's National Clubs Championships held from 4th - 7th November.

Our Club was represented by Emmy Withers, Olivia Falconer, Miranda Blades, Shiira De Horta and Adel Ryall. The girls competed over 2 days, with podium training scheduled in the days the Girls weren't competing.

Day 1 looked promising with Emmy Withers sitting in 3rd place on Floor, and 6th on Vault with Miranda Blades holding 7th on Bars. Day 2 scores combined and the Girls slipped a little down the rankings with Emmy finishing 7th on Vault - Just out of medal contention.

Overall, Emmy finished 17th AA, Olivia 22nd AA, Miranda 24th AA, Shiira 41st AA, and Adel 43rd AA. A great results for our Girls who were up against a tough field of 52 Gymnasts from VIS, WAIS, Waverly, SWG, SGC and a lot of other High Performance Programmes. After the event, Emmy, Olivia and Miranda headed to a 3 day clinic at the AIS as part of Gymnastics Australia's Team Future Camp. Special mention goes to Olivia, who achieved the status of Team Future "High Achiever" for the 2nd camp in a row! Well done!
